Katja Teske
KT Pottery
Handmade functional stoneware and porcelain pottery
My name is Katja and I’m the maker of KT Pottery.
I was born and raised in East Germany but discovered that I belong in Canada. I came here for the first time in 1992 and it was love at first sight for both the country and the man I was going to marry. I immigrated to Canada in 1997 and it has been my home ever since.
Besides being a potter, I’m a proud Mama of two adult children, own a business with my husband and I’m also an avid fiction reader, wild mushroom forager and love to travel.
I have always been interested in pottery and started taking wheel throwing lessons in the Fall of 2017 and it went from there.
Being a hobby potter, I create all my pieces in the evenings and weekends in my home studio in Edmonton, AB. Wheel throwing is my jam, but I also do hand building and slip casting and create my own slip cast molds.
